Christian Tours Provided for the
Houston Museum of Natural Science
The Houston Museum of Natural Science is one of the premier natural science museums in the United States. The Morian Hall of Paleontology is in the Natural Science Museum and has many outstanding examples of dinosaur fossils along with fossils of other plant and animal groups. The descriptions and narrative provided by the museum in the Hall of Paleontology is based on the theory of evolution and deep time. The Greater Houston Creation Association has developed tours of the museum that are based on Young Earth Creation which we believe can be supported both theologically and scientifically.
The fossils in the museum can be explained in terms of burial by a global flood rather than millions of years of erosion and deposition. That way the facts of science align with the Holy Scriptures.
The November 7 meeting of the GHCA will be held at Houston’s First, the Loop campus in Room 143 at 10 am. Tour leaders Robert Bennett and Paul Moffitt will give abbreviated versions of their museum tour presentations (on PowerPoint rather than at the museum.) These presentations give support to creation and a global flood rather than evolution and uniformitarianism.
The museum tours are available to Christian groups to build up the faith of Christians in the veracity of the Bible and to show that science is compatible with the Word of God. We welcome everyone to view these presentations and to join in the discussions to follow.
Paul Moffitt has a B. S. Degree in Agricultural Engineering and an Ms. Degree in Petroleum Engineering. Paul worked as a Petroleum Engineer for a major oil company for 38 years. Paul also serves as an Elder in his local church.
Robert Bennett has a degree in Wildlife Biology and was employed as an operations manager.
Both men struggled somewhat with the contrast with Supernatural Biblical Creation in contrast with the conventional science view of millions to billions of years of evolution. Today both gentlemen are well versed in both the Biblical explanations and the conventional science
explanations and well able to discuss issues from both sides. All wIll enjoy our tours emphasizing the Biblical and Christian explanations of the displays in this impressive museum.
